Remove the worn-out top layer, keep your grades and curb lines right, and repave on a clean, solid surface — the professional way to renew aging asphalt.
Asphalt milling — sometimes called cold planing — uses a milling machine to grind away the top layer of existing pavement to a controlled depth. Instead of piling a new layer on top of a worn, uneven surface, milling removes the damaged asphalt first, leaving a clean, textured base that new asphalt bonds to tightly.
It solves problems a simple overlay can’t. Every time a lot or road gets paved over without milling, the surface gets higher. Eventually curbs disappear, water runs toward buildings instead of drains, and the pavement no longer lines up with doorways, gutters, and garage slabs. Milling lets us keep elevations exactly where they belong, fix drainage, and smooth out ruts and bumps before repaving.
Milling is common on parking lots, commercial drives, and roads where the surface is worn but the base underneath is still sound. As a bonus, the removed material can be recycled into millings and reclaimed asphalt — a cost-effective option for farm roads and private drives. After more than 30 years in the trade, we’ll tell you honestly whether milling and repaving is the right move for your surface.
Milling gives you nearly the results of a full replacement without tearing out the entire base. You get a smooth, level new surface, curbs that still look like curbs, and water that drains the way it should — at a fraction of the cost and time of full reconstruction.
It’s also the responsible choice. Milled asphalt doesn’t go to a landfill; it gets reused. As a licensed Alabama General Contractor (#260383) with a 5.0 Google rating, we mill to the right depth, repave on a clean surface, and leave the site ready for business.
