Standing water is asphalt’s worst enemy. We find out why it’s pooling and reshape the pavement so water runs where it should.
After a heavy Alabama or Georgia rain, take a look at your driveway or parking lot. If puddles are still sitting there hours later — in low spots, along curbs, in front of entrances, or by drains that never seem to catch the water — you have a ponding problem. Those “birdbaths” aren’t just annoying for customers stepping out of their cars. Standing water soaks into the pavement, weakens the base, and is one of the leading causes of potholes and alligator cracking.
Bama Georgia Paving diagnoses and fixes asphalt drainage problems. Depending on the cause, we may level low spots with an asphalt wedge or skin patch, mill and repave sections to restore the right slope, rebuild settled areas over a failed base, or regrade around the pavement so water flows toward drains, ditches, and the edge of the lot instead of collecting in the middle.
The key is finding the real cause. Settled base, poor original grading, buildup from repeated overlays, or blocked runoff paths all require different fixes. With more than 30 years and three generations in this trade, we’ll explain what’s happening and what it will take to solve it.
Fixing drainage protects everything else you’ve invested in your pavement. It prevents the base damage that leads to potholes and failures, cuts down on slip hazards, and keeps customers from stepping into puddles on the way in the door.
